Advancing the Transformation of Chemical Research Paradigms through Artificial Intelligence

Abstract:

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence is accelerating the shift in scientific research from being primarily experience-driven to data-driven, automated, and intelligent. This transformation is recognized as a revolutionary and disruptive technological wave, comparable to the advent of electronic computers and the internet. It has profoundly impacted and reshaped research paradigms, especially in the field of chemistry, where artificial intelligence holds immense potential and promising prospects.

Chunli BAI

Chunli BAI, male, of Manchu ethnicity, hails from Liaoning Province. He is a renowned chemist and nanotechnology expert. His research areas include organic molecular crystal structures, EXAFS, molecular nanostructures, and scanning tunnelling microscopy. He serves as the Honorary President of the Presidium of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), as well as the Honorary President of the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the University of Science and Technology of China. Chunli BAI is also the Founding President of the Alliance of International Science Organizations (ANSO) under the Belt and Road Initiative. Previously, he held the positions of President and Party Secretary of CAS, and President of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS)In addition to his scientific achievements, Chunli BAI has played key roles in political and advisory capacities. He was an alternate member of the 15th, 16th, and 17th Central Committees of the Communist Party of China, a member of the 18th and 19th Central Committees, and currently serves as a member of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) and Chairperson of the NPC Ethnic Affairs Committee. Chunli BAI is an academician or foreign member of several prestigious academies of sciences and engineering worldwide, including CAS, the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (TWAS), the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, and the UK’s Royal Society. He also holds the position of Chief Scientist for the National Nanotechnology Steering and Coordination Committee and is the Editor-in-Chief of National Science Review and Nanoscale.
