AI and Higher Education
Abstract:
In his presentation, Professor Jacques N. Biot will cover the various potential interactions between AI and higher education. In the first part, he will examine how universities should get ready to teach a number of disciplines which all need to be mastered for a successful deployment of AI at an industrial level, such disciplines being not limited, by far, only to mathematics and computer science. In addition, he will also emphasize the need to prepare students from all disciplines to the wise use of AI in their future field.
In the second part, he will cover the potential impact of AI on learning sciences and campus management - how AI is changing the life of professors and students in their respective process of teaching and learning. In the final part, he will give a hint at how European universities are handling the various challenges exposed initially, i.e. teaching AI as a discipline, teaching the use of AI as a tool, and teaching with the support of AI.
