2025 Notice of Admission Guide
(Please scroll down for the English version)
Skip One Turn!】

Hello, freshmen!
Welcome to the family of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou)!
This year’s notice of admission embodies the University’s commitment to sustainable development and our aspirations for your future. It draws inspiration from low-altitude economy and references "The Innovation Zone Surrounding HKUST(GZ)" for spatial layout. We kindly invite you to embark on a brand new journey from the moment you open your notice of admission.
A. Versatile Design
The outer box of the notice of admission is not just a simple packaging. Through its grooved base, the outer box can be quickly converted into a display stand for showcasing the notice of admission.
The inner box is cleverly designed to unfold into a game board, allowing you to experience the charm of the integrated development of "The Innovation Zone Surrounding HKUST(GZ)" and "low-altitude economy" through the game of Aeroplane Chess. Two pouches inside the box contain the University's student identity symbols (emblem pin and campus card holder) and interactive props (game pieces/dice/item cards).
B. Aeroplane Chess Rules Guide
This Aeroplane Chess game can be played by a minimum of 2 players and a maximum of 4 players. Each player can choose one of the four major hubs at HKUST(GZ) — Function hub, Information hub, Systems hub, and Society hub — and start their interdisciplinary exploration journey from either the College of Education Sciences (CES) or the College of Future Technology (CFT).
Take-off Rules:
1. All players roll the dice once, and the player with the highest number starts the game. Players then take turns rolling the dice in a clockwise order.
2. Players must roll a 1 or a 6 to move from the【Four Hub Bases】to the starting point【Start from CES/CFT】for take-off. Rolling a 1 allows take-off only, while rolling a 6 grants an additional turn to roll the dice.
Moves and Strategies:
1. Move forward following the arrow direction from the starting point【Start from CES/CFT】.
2. Players who roll a 6 can continue rolling the dice until they roll a number other than 6 or the game ends.
3. When a piece moves to a space occupied by another piece from other Hubs, the occupying piece will be sent back to its base.
4. Pieces from the same Hub can stack and move together when landing on the same space.
5. If another piece from other Hubs lands on a space where two pieces stacked together, all piece will be sent back to their base.
Special Spaces:
1. If a piece lands on any【Innovation Fast Track】space, it can accelerate along the route indicated by the arrows.
2. If a piece lands on the【Draw Cards for Support】space, the player draws a【16 Thrusts Support Card】. Then, the player follows the instructions on the card to roll the dice again to "determine" the number of steps to advance. If a 6 is rolled, additional turns are not granted. If a player reaches this space after rolling a 6, the rule "players who roll a 6 can continue rolling" is void for this turn.
3. If a piece lands on the【Challenge Alert! Skip One Turn!】space, the player must skip a turn.
Finish Line Rules:
1. Players must follow the path of their Hub color and land exactly at the finish line at "Red Bird Piazza". Only in this way will they be considered as having arrived.
2. If the dice roll exceeds the number of steps needed to reach the finish line, the piece must move back by the excess number of steps.
3. If a piece is on a【Innovation Fast Track】space before the finish line, pieces from other Hubs using this route to accelerate can send the piece back to its base.
4. If all four pieces of a Hub reach the finish line ahead of the others, the game ends. The player who first moves all their pieces to the finish line wins.
C. AR Enhanced Experience
Our game board integrates AR features to vividly showcase "The Innovation Zone Surrounding HKUST(GZ)". It also provides an AR interaction with HKUST(GZ)'s popular IP "Red Birdie." Please scan the AR mini program code on the gift box to experience.
