Terms of Reference
- To consider and deliberate on rules and regulations, policies and measures, strategic plans, and action plans relating to the University's sustainability work;
- To coordinate and promote the integration of sustainability elements and practices into campus operations, education, research, and public service;
- To engage with external stakeholders and partners so as to advance the implementation and further development of the University's sustainability work;
- To support relevant research, coordinate the collection, integration, documentation, and sharing of information and data related to the University's sustainability work, and advance the implementation of sustainability initiatives and measures;
- To submit to the Chairman of the University Executive Committee by 31 January each year a written report on the work carried out by the Committee during the previous reporting cycle (from 1 January to 31 December of the preceding year).
Powers
- The Committee shall have the power to review and approve rules and regulations, policies and measures, strategic plans, and action plans relating to the University's sustainability work;
- The Committee shall have the power to review and approve special work arrangements, implementation plans, working mechanisms, and other matters that fall within its Terms of Reference and within the University's established policy and resource allocation framework for sustainability work;
- Matters relating to sustainability that fall beyond the Committee's authority shall, upon deliberation by the Committee, be submitted to the University Executive Committee for review and approval;
- The Committee may, as needed, establish special committees or working groups to undertake relevant tasks;
- The Chair of the Committee shall have final decision-making authority and may exercise a casting vote in the event of a tie;
- The Committee shall have the power to urge relevant units to implement matters approved by the Committee, and to follow up on and advance their implementation.
Membership
The Sustainability Steering Committee consists of a Chairperson and several Members. The Committee members include Faculty Representatives, Ex Officio Members, and Specially Invited Members.

(Faculty Representatives are recommended by the Hubs and primarily consist of professors with extensive experience and expertise in the field of sustainable development. Ex Officio Members include representatives from relevant departments such as the Office of General Logistics and the Human Resources Department, as well as representatives responsible for research, teaching, and student affairs, who are recommended by the relevant university leadership. Specially Invited Members may be invited by the Chairperson as needed.)
