Representatives from Hong Kong businesses and organizations visited our university under the leadership of Mr. Leung Chun-ying for an exchange trip

On February 6, Hong Kong reopened borders with the Mainland. This afternoon, Mr. Leung Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), led a delegation of about 80 people to our university for exchange and visit. The delegation, which came to Nansha against the clock, included members of the Guangzhou Nansha Guangdong-Hong Kong Cooperation Advisory Committee and representatives of 34 organizations in Hong Kong.
 

 

The delegation was received by Prof. Ni Mingxuan, President of the University, Prof. Wu Jingshen, Vice President (Teaching), Dr. Li Bin, Special Assistant to the President and Director of the President's Office, Dr. Huang Yu, Director of the External Relations Department and Director of the Talent Services Department of the President's Office, and student "ambassadors", accompanied by relevant leaders from Guangzhou and Nansha District.

 

 

The delegation stood on the 7th level of the Administration Building, overlooking the core area of campus. President Ni Mingxuan described the school's overall layout, construction history, and how the notion of "integration of disciplines" is masterfully portrayed in the campus landscape.

 

 

Vice President Wu Jingshen explained the school's innovative education philosophy and cultivation model in the Maker Space, which combines robots, unmanned vehicles, bionic robot fish, 3D printers, and other technical products.
 

 

 

President Ni Mingxuan gave the delegation an overview of the founding history, basic facts, academic structure, faculty recruitment policies, and development objectives of the HKUST(GZ) in the Lecture Hall.

 

 

Mr. LEUNG Chun-ying paid attention to the introduction and frequently interjected with questions. He has always been supportive of HKUST(GZ) and has been highly concerned about the building and growth of the university. Mr. LEUNG Chun-ying delivered a letter to the institution after his visit with the hopes that HKUST(GZ) would continue to improve and contribute more to the growth of the Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau Greater Bay Area as well as the nation.
