About Office of Knowledge Transfer (OKT)
Knowledge transfer(KT) is an important mission for the development of higher education, a key link in industry-academia collaboration, and one of the main channels for enhancing university competitiveness and serving society. With this vision in mind, The Office of Knowledge Transfer (OKT) of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) was established in April 2023. The office is rooted in innovative concepts and aims to provide comprehensive support and services for the University's knowledge transfer initiatives. The Office actively promotes the implementation of science and technology innovation and entrepreneurship, assists in commercializing the University's research outcomes, fosters industry strategic partnerships and industrial upgrades, and provides innovative support and empowerment for campus incubated enterprises and social organizations.

New Paradigm of University KT
HKUST(GZ) and HKUST under the "Unified HKUST - Complementary Campuses" framework, is dedicated to fostering university-industry collaboration. This commitment involves broadening the conventional R&D (Research and Development) knowledge transfer paradigm to an R&BD (Research, Development, and Business Development) model. This expansion is guided by an innovative knowledge transfer philosophy encompassing "Industry-Academia-Research-Application-Investment“.
We focus on promoting the implementation of scientific and technological innovation and entrepreneurship, industry strategic cooperation and industrial upgrading, intellectual property protection and operation, enterprise innovation cultivation and deep empowerment, and will be oriented towards the national major strategic requirements and market demand to promote interdisciplinary integration and application, create diversified cooperation models, and promote the amalgamation of technology, education, and the economy.
Sci-Tech Innovation Ecosystem
We aim to build a Sci-Tech Innovation ecosystem, achieve the leap from "0 to 1" technology productization to "1 to N" product industrialization, and accelerate the transformation and implementation of scientific research achievements and innovative inventions based on market demand. We also target to strengthen entrepreneurial incubation and industrial cooperation, enhance intellectual property protection, and cultivate interdisciplinary innovative talents. By stimulating innovation vitality, guiding technological creation, and creating the brand of INNO-culture, we will be able to promote the University to become a new innovation ecosystem, and also accelerate the development of cutting-edge technologies.
