Mr. Leung Chun Ying led a delegation of Hong Kong media executives to HKUST（GZ）
This afternoon, more than 20 Hong Kong media executives and renowned media professionals visited the university, led by Mr. Leung Chun Ying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Advisor of the Guangzhou Nansha Guangdong-Hong Kong Cooperation Advisory Committee.
The president of HKUST(GZ), Professor Lionel Ni, gave a welcome speech, in which he notably extended his appreciation to Mr. Leung Chun Ying for his concern and support for the university and welcomed all of the media representatives from Hong Kong to the campus. In addition, he provided the visitors with a general overview of the university's teaching core area and information about the school's preparation process, commitment, vision, and value.
" If there is anything further you would want to know about the university, you can take this chance to speak with President Lionel Ni ." Mr. Leung Chun-ying graciously presided over the discussion session and welcomed inquiries from the media. Most of the questions were focused on key scientific research project development, talent recruitment, and cultivation, etc.
"Where does the faculty of HKUST (GZ) come from?" A guest asked. President Lionel Ni stated that some of the professors come from HKUST and hold senior management positions at HKUST (GZ), such as president, vice president, hub dean, and head of the thrust; the others are outstanding talents recruited from around the world in accordance with the academic staff recruitment criteria developed by both universities (HKUST and HKUST (GZ)).
"Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area cities are currently recruiting talent from across the world. So what draws people to HKUST (GZ) when they are looking for jobs?" Asked a visitor. President Lionel Ni answered that the institution has a special draw for talent under the umbrella of the Unified HKUST-Complementary Campuses. Through the joint appointment with HKUST, talents may fully benefit from Hong Kong and the Mainland's advantages to play to their strengths and contribute to national development.
