CFT is also responsible to provide an active learning environment and project mentorship to RBM students in conducting group project-based research in order to enhance students’ transferable skills and facilitate knowledge acquisition.

In the face of unprecedented changes and complex global issues, higher education in the new era needs to actively embrace the trends of interdisciplinary integration, innovation-driven development, and sustainable growth to address the multidimensional challenges brought about by the global situation and promote future social progress. Against this backdrop, the establishment of the CFT by HKUST(GZ) is a crucial step in exploring higher education paradigm reform, cultivating complex innovative and entrepreneurial talents, and supporting the development of technological innovation in the Greater Bay Area and China's self-reliance in science and technology, all under the "HKUST 2.0" model.

Drawing upon its unique "Hub-Thrust" academic organization structure, HKUST(GZ) has decided to establish the CFT to ensure the smooth development of postgraduate education, facilitate the integration of interdisciplinary talent development systems, and fully capitalize on the advantages of interdisciplinary dialogue, collaboration, and integration. The CFT is composed of three units

  • Division of Red Bird MPhil (RBM)
  • Lab of Future Technology (LFT)
  • Red Bird Maker Space (RBMS)

The establishment of the CFT will greatly facilitate the HKUST(GZ) to enhance its interdisciplinary academic organizational structure, as well as the exploration and implementation of innovative ideas for the cultivation of interdisciplinary talents. This development will play a pivotal role in the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and serve as a driving force for the development of educational integration between mainland China and Hong Kong.
