Filled with anticipation and aspirations for the future, our university's inaugural undergraduate freshmen have officially commenced their journey.

Students from all corners of the country have eagerly arrived, and as they step out of the stations, they are warmly welcomed by enthusiastic staff members.

With the 'one-stop' service, students are directly escorted to the campus.

The main road on campus is adorned with fluttering school flags. The guide for new students' registration is clear and straightforward.

Under the meticulous coordination of VPTLO and the Undergraduate Admissions Office, every department of the university, such as the Center for Ethics Education and Contemporary China Studies, Residential College, Office of General Logistics, Finance Department, Archives Management Department, Information Technology Department, and College of Education Sciences, among others, diligently prepared for the arrival of the new students early in the morning.

Diligent staff members and volunteers can be seen everywhere.

Students meticulously follow the procedures and complete the necessary documentation.

The implementation of intelligent verification devices streamlines the registration process, making it more efficient and convenient.

At the scene, students receive their campus cards and new student welcome packages. The welcome package include a canvas bag, a mug, a pen, and a T-shirt, combining the unique characteristics of the university with practicality.👇

Prof. Jingshen Wu, Vice-President (Teaching & Learning) of HKUST(GZ), arrives at the registration site and warmly welcomed the new students.

"Today is a historic moment for The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou)," says Prof. Jingshen Wu. He emphasizes that establishing a strong undergraduate education is not only fundamental to a university but also a vital component in nurturing talent. "Today, we officially welcome the first cohort of undergraduate students since our inauguration in September last year. As you join the university, you are not just students of our esteemed professors, but also comrades!" Prof. Jingshen Wu expresses. He further states that in the days to come, the university will explore and engage in innovative practices together with the students on their path of discovery.

With meticulous care, we offer you a second 'home'

After completing the on-site registration, the students cheerfully make their way to the accommodation area with their luggage. The check-in process is smooth and efficient.

The furniture is in impeccable condition, the appliances are fully equipped, and the environment is comfortable. Even it is the first time that students see their dormitory, students invariably feel warm like coming home, thanks to the proactive efforts of the Campus Management Department, who had taken care of everything.

The Construction & Engineering Department conducted thorough safety inspections of the dormitory buildings in advance and carried out tasks such as retiling and increasing the number of electrical outlets.

From an early age, I have been deeply fascinated by the field of microelectronics. I am well aware that chips are a crucial area where our country faces significant challenges, and I am determined to make a contribution in this regard. Moreover, quantum mechanics is an area of particular interest to me. The unique interdisciplinary characteristics and development of HKUST(GZ) offer me a vast platform to accumulate knowledge and embark on continuous exploration. In the next four years, my aspiration is to lead a fulfilling and joyful life, making consistent progress each day.

The primary reason for choosing HKUST(GZ) is the availability of abundant resources and a highly qualified faculty. I am excited about the prospect of gaining more autonomy in my studies here and enhancing my overall capabilities. Even though I have already seen photos of the school online, being there in person makes me truly appreciate the awe-inspiring technology-filled atmosphere on campus. I am particularly impressed by the extensive collection of books in the library, covering many areas that I have never explored before. I hope to immerse myself in this environment over the next four years and continuously broaden my horizons.

Each department has prepared nearly a month of welcoming activities for newcomers, aiming to help everyone overcome the shyness and confusion of entering campus life. The campus life training is thoughtful and comprehensive, with unique expert lectures. The English immersion camp is designed to help students adapt to the English teaching environment in advance.
