HKUST(GZ) Sci-tech Achievement Transfer & Transformation Base, Intl Innovation and Entrepreneurship Community in Nansha Science City inaugurated

On Sept 3, the inauguration ceremony of the HKUST(GZ) Sci-tech Achievement Transfer and Transformation Base and the International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Community in Nansha Science City was held at Yuexiu iPARK Guangdong-Hong Kong Intelligence Valley in Nansha, Guangzhou.

The HKUST(GZ) Sci-tech Achievement Transfer and Transformation Base is a collaborative effort between the Guangzhou municipal science and technology bureau, the people's government of Nansha district, and HKUST(GZ). The three parties jointly organized the inauguration event, marking the starting point for constructing the International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Community in Nansha Science City. This event is a significant achievement in implementing the overall deployment of the State Council's "Nansha Plan" to promote the establishment of the HKUST Innovation and Technology Transfer Headquarters Base in the Chinese mainland. It signifies a solid step forward in technological innovation cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, injecting new momentum and elevating the development of Nansha Science City.

Liu Wei, member of the standing committee of the Guangzhou municipal Party committee and Party secretary of Nansha district, Jiang Zhitao, vice mayor of Guangzhou, Yang Jun, deputy director of the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province, Xie Ming, director of the Guangzhou municipal science and technology bureau, Wu Yang, head of Nansha district, Professor Lionel M. Ni, president of HKUST(GZ), and over 60 representatives from enterprises, investment institutions, and media attended the event to witness the inauguration of HKUST(GZ) Sci-tech Achievement Transfer and Transformation Base and the International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Community in Nansha Science City.

Lin Zhaoyuan, general manager of Yuexiu Group and chairman of Yuexiu Real Estate, Prof. Lionel M. Ni, Xie Ming, and Wu Yang delivered speeches successively.

Following the opening ceremony of the Yuexiu iPARK Guangdong-Hong Kong Intelligence Valley, HKUST(GZ) Sci-tech Achievement Transfer and Transformation Base and the International Innovation and Entrepreneurship Community in Nansha Science City were officially inaugurated amid great anticipation. Over the next five years, HKUST(GZ) Sci-tech Achievement Transfer and Transformation Base will provide approximately 20,000 square meters of high-quality physical space and professional incubation services to accelerate the cultivation of new productive forces.

The event also featured a signing ceremony for HKUST(GZ)’s innovation enterprises, with companies such as Kayja-Optics, Guangzhou Guna New Materials, and Guangzhou Yuanjiaohu Technology signing agreements to settle at the HKUST(GZ) Sci-tech Achievement Transfer and Transformation Base has already reserved 20 startup projects, which will take root and flourish in the base in the future. At the end of the event, participating leaders and guests visited the exhibition of projects to be settled in the HKUST(GZ) Sci-tech Achievement Transfer and Transformation Base and engaged in in-depth exchanges on accelerating the projects' establishment in Nansha and achieving efficient results transformation.
