Japan’s former Central Bank leader visits HKUST(GZ)

On July 15, Professor Lionel M. NI, the President of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), extended a warm welcome to Mr. Hirohide YAMAGUCHI, former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Japan and Chairman of the The Advisory Board at Nikko Research Center, Inc.

The visiting group included Ms. Yoshiko KIJIMA, Consul General of Japan in Guangzhou, Mr. Shoichi HAGIHARA, Chief of Staff at Office of The Advisory Board Nikko Research Center, Inc, and Mr. Kazunori KOIKE, Chief Representative at the Bank of Japan’s Representative Office in Beijing.

Attending the meeting were Professor Ye QI, Acting Dean of the Society Hub; Professor Shugen MA, Acting Thrust Head of Robotics and Autonomous Systems; Junxuan WANG, Assistant Professor of the Thrust of Financial Technology; and Mr. Jing FU, Head of the Global Affairs Department.

The in-depth conversation encompassed a variety of topics, including the milestones of HKUST(GZ), its innovative educational models, and the development of international research platforms within the Greater Bay Area (GBA). The dialogue also focused on advancing technology, fostering talent mobility, and promoting youth exchanges. Both parties reached a consensus to explore opportunities for enhancing academic cooperation between China and Japan.
