Mahidol University Delegation Visits HKUST(GZ) for Governance Exchange
On January 22, a delegation from Mahidol University visited the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) (HKUST(GZ)). This visit was part of the university’s Executive Development Program (MU-EDP) and focused on exchanging insights into higher education governance while exploring potential collaboration avenues. Professor Ting Chuen Pong, Vice-President (Administration & Business) of HKUST(GZ), welcomed the 43-member delegation, which included key administrative personnel and faculty members from various departments.

During the visit, Vice President Nara Pao-In expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and support from HKUST(GZ). The discussions centered on university management and research cooperation, highlighting shared interests between the two universities.
Professor Pong provided an overview of HKUST(GZ), introducing its history, innovative interdisciplinary framework, and academic strengths. He guided the delegation to the seventh floor of the administrative building, where they enjoyed a panoramic view of the campus.

During a session with the College of Future Technology (CFT), Professor Xudong Wang, Acting Dean of CFT, highlighted the student-centered interdisciplinary education paradigm of the Red Bird MPhil program. The duscussion focused on course design and faculty development.
In the Biosciences Central Research Facility (GZ), a team led by Dr. Kasamon Aramvanitch learned the university’s advanced research facilities and the development of Systems Hub from the Acting Dean, Professor Robert Zhong Qi.

Dr. Jirataya Roemmontri’s team engaged with Professor Ge Lin Kan, Thrust Head of Urban Governance and Design, and other faculty members from the Society Hub, discussing urban governance and climate change.
