All 2023 Guangdong Key Scientific Research Platform and Projects for Higher-educational Institutions Submitted by HKUST(GZ) Got Approved

Recently, the Department of Education of Guangdong Province (GD-DoE) announced the list of approved 2023 Guangdong Key Scientific Research Platform and Projects for Higher-educational Institutions and approved Recognized Scientific Research Projects. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology(Guangzhou) submitted 14 proposals, including a Key Research Base in Humanity and Social Science project, an Innovation Team Project, four Key Area Projects, six Featured Innovation Projects, and two Young Innovative Talent Projects, and all projects got approved.

List of Approved 2023 Guangdong Key Scientific Research Platform and Projects for the Higher-educational Institution

The GD-DoE organized the application of the Guangdong Key Scientific Research Platform and Projects for Higher-educational Institutions, aiming to deeply implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, accelerate the strategy of Guangdong’s innovation-driven development, and make Guangdong become a province with a higher level of educational strength and scientific and technological innovation. The Key Scientific Research Platform and Projects for Higher-educational Institutions were recommended by the University and selected and approved outstanding by the GD-DoE. The Recognized Scientific Research Projects were selected and recommended by the University and reviewed and approved by the GD-DoE.

The University passed the qualification review by the GD-DoE, officially became a host institution this February, and applied for the Guangdong Key Scientific Research Platform and Projects for the first time in June. All submitted proposals got approved this time, which is not only the recognition of the scientific research capability of the research team, but also encouragement and support to the faculty members, expecting them to undertake more cutting-edge and difficult research tasks oriented to the demands of national development.

In the future, the University will manage the project funds according to the management regulations of relevant national and provincial scientific research platforms and projects, and carry out research work according to the project plans.
