Quality Assurance & Enhancement

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) (HKUST(GZ)) is committed to cultivating graduates to be future leaders who are innovative and creative critical thinkers and problem-solvers. To fulfill the vision, we strive to provide high-quality cross-disciplinary education and individualized learning experiences for each student, tailoring pedagogy to students’ unique strengths, interests, and career aspirations. We aim to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages collaboration, teamwork, project-based learning and life-long learning. To achieve our mission, we are dedicated to recruiting and retaining outstanding faculty members who are not only experts in their fields but also passionate about teaching and mentoring our students. We invest in cutting-edge technology, state-of-the-art facilities, and world-class resources to enhance our teaching and research capabilities. We uphold the principles of academic integrity, ensuring that our students have rigorous and fair measures to achieve their intended learning outcomes. We partner with students and encourage them to participate in research, community service, other extracurricular activities and university governance, to help them develop into well-rounded, responsible, and globally competent graduates.

As a Hong Kong-Chinese mainland collaborative university, HKUST(GZ) complies with dual quality assurance requirements from the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Council (QAC), which periodically undertakes academic quality audits of all programmes that lead to a HKUST award, and the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) requirements on education delivery in the Chinese mainland. Under this overarching structure and to fulfill the educational vision and objectives, HKUST(GZ) has designed and deployed a Quality Assurance and Enhancement Framework that sets out the University’s approaches to ensuring a quality student learning experience and maintaining rigorous academic standards of awards. The Framework comprises many of HKUST’s quality assurance and quality enhancement measures, complemented by local arrangements that reflect HKUST(GZ)’s local aspirations and mainland situation. The Framework is presented by five systematic and interrelated elements, including regulations and policies, procedures, reviews and enhancement measures, with oversight through the academic governance bodies at various levels of the University.
