Dr. Bin Li is the Special Assistant to the President and the Director of the Office of the President of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), as well as the Director of the Office of Asset Management of the University.
Dr. Bin Li obtained his B. Eng. from the Department of Automatic Control Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and received his MPhil and PhD degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 1996 and 2003 respectively. He has been an IEEE Senior Member since 2003.
Dr. Bin Li was a System Engineer of China Telecom Group, served as a Managing Director of WanBao Telecom Limited, Executive Director and CEO of ChinaMotion Telecom Group, Executive Director and COO of CITIC Telecom International Group, Vice President (Commercial) of CITIC Pacific Group, Non-Executive Director and Senior Technical Advisor of Beijing China Cache Communications Group, Executive Director and CEO of Jin Peng Technology International Ltd.，Chief representative of China Center for International Economic Exchanges （CCIEE）and China Economic Consulting Corporation（CECC）in Hong Kong. Dr. Bin Li founded GTI Group at the beginning of the century with core business in the international telecommunication network services, covering the Greater China region and the world's major Chinese settlements. He has been the Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Dr. Bin Li has more than 30 years of technical and operational management experience in the telecommunications and information technology industry, and has wide experience in international telecommunication network construction, business development and service implementation. Dr. Bin Li has also served on the board of directors and held senior management positions in large and medium-sized multinational companies listed in Hong Kong, Singapore and US for extended period of time, and has deep strategic planning, business development and operational management skills in multinational companies. Dr. Bin Li is also a successful entrepreneur and has extensive experience in project management, fund raising and M&A development. Dr. Bin Li is well versed in the systems and cultures of both the Mainland and Hong Kong, and is passionate about promoting Hong Kong's integration into the overall development of the country.
Dr. Bin Li joined The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) in September 2021 and has been deeply involved in the management and operation of the university during the very beginning phase of the campus construction, preparation for the opening ceremony and the start-up operation. His current job scope covers many areas including administration, planing, campus construction and logistics.
