Information Session of Guangdong Basic and Applied Basic Research Foundation held at HKUST(GZ)

The Committee of Guangdong Basic and Applied Basic Research Foundation visited the University and held an information session of Guangdong Basic and Applied Basic Research Foundation on September 14. The Deputy Directors of the Committee Jiang Yong, Liu Chaogang, and Lin Xiong, the Deputy District Mayor of Nansha District Chen Guoqing, the Deputy Director of Nansha District Science and Technology Bureau Lin Jinxiao, and more than 100 HKUST(GZ) faculty members and staff attended the event.

Professor Kaishun Wu, the Associate Vice President (Research) of HKUST(GZ), expressed his gratitude to the Guangdong Basic and Applied Basic Research Foundation Committee for its support and guidance to the University. He hoped the attended faculty members and staff would learn from the information session and encouraged them to interact and exchange actively.

Mr. Jiang Yong introduced the basic information of the Committee and the applications and approval projects of the Foundation in recent years. He also said the Committee would continue to support HKUST(GZ) in carrying out basic and applied basic research.

Jiang Yong, the Deputy Director of the Committee, delivered a speech at the information session.

After that, Mr. Chen Yushan, the Head of the Committee department, explained the funding system, project application guidelines, and matters that need the attention of the Foundation.

The attended faculty members and staff actively participated in the interaction session, asking questions on the scope of project funding, application requirements, criteria, management rules, and other related issues that were professionally well-answered by the members of the Committee. The atmosphere was active and instructive, and the attendees had an in-depth understanding of various project funding via the information session, which will help improve project application quality.

In the future, the Research Department will organize training for government-funded research projects, providing professional tutoring and assistance for our faculty members in applying for government-funded research projects to promote the high-quality development of scientific research in the University.
